MARCH THE 16TH OF THE FIRST YEAR
Giles spent the week carousing town. Grimlock spent the week journeying to the village of the Fire Dwarves.
Giles learned that Evelyn the Cleric worships the god Chance, the god of gambling and fate. Giles learned that Christine the Magic-User is running from something. Giles hired a new retainer, the human Fighter, Mike.
Grimlock managed to find the village of the Fire Dwarves and was allowed entry, though his off putting nature meant finding friends difficult. He learned that there is a human blacksmith who lives in the village, and that the Fire Dwarves worship the God of Fire by constantly burning a man shaped effigy in the center of town.
Upon arrival to Stonehell, the party discovered that the main gate had been repaired, albeit haphazardly. They sensed the presence of goblins with the gatehouse. They made their way to the entrance and discovered that the enchanted copse had been abandoned.
Inside Stonehell, they fought two giant toads that had devoured a human Paladin. They found a treasure map and a plate armor +1 on his corpse. They split up.
Grimlock discovered a shoddy sign pointing towards a cavern with "Da Dragon's Den" written on it in kobold. He found a room filled with refuse and trash, and began to dig through the trash, when he was struck and killed by a spitting cobra. May his memory never be forgotten.
Giles and company explored the south side of the dungeon, entering a room covered in blood, with a disembodied voice that barked at them to leave this place. They pressed onward. Giles, in an attempt to open a rusted portculis, hurt himself. In frustration, he returned to the surface, but then decided to go back down into the dungeon after some consideration. The party then discovered two patrolling orcs who aggressively tried to bully them out. After killing one of the orcs, the other one fled. They discovered a Shrine to Chance, a wheel of fortune with smiling and frowning faces on it. When they spun the wheel, if it landed on a frowning face, unlucky things occurred to them. Evelyn was smited by Chance, and suffered damage. Giles was stricken with a curse of amnesia, and forgot his memorized spells. They decided now was the time to leave, but when they got to the entrance, they were swarmed by six orcs.
The orcs cheered and praised them as heroes, thanking them for killing their supervisor, who was a "tyrannical prick". They offered the party safe passage and informed them of a great war between the orcs and the kobolds, that has been complicated by goblins and "humans gone mad like beasts". When inquired about the fate of Grimlock, the orcs informed the party that there was a different dwarf, one who was mapping Stonehell and interested in the Dwarven architecture within the dungeon. The party asked to be escorted to this dwarf, and the orcs obliged.
The party met a dwarf and his adventuring party, Storri Broudshoulders. Storri and the party discussed cooperating, and came upon an agreement. Should the party guide Storri to the 4th level of Stonehell, he would grant them 200 gold, and his employ as an engineer for a project in the future. The party agreed. They then decided to call it a day, and headed back to the surface, and back to town.
